Sept. 17: WEC White Burgundy Seminar- SF
The Wine Education Council is organizing a Trade-Only seminar in San Francisco on the Hidden Treasures of White Burgundy: The Rockstars of the Mâconnais.
The WEC writes: Please Join Peter Wasserman, the lifetime Burgundian and highly respected commentator, recount how the wines of the Mâconnais were traditionally regarded with the same esteem as their cousins in the Côte de Beaune. It was only the depredations of the Second World War that caused the decline in the reputation of the region.
Today, the confluence of the steep price increases in Burgundy and the effects of global warming have caused knowledgeable connoisseurs to refocus their attention on the extraordinary quality of white Burgundies coming out of the Mâconnais.
Peter will lead us on a curated evaluation of the gems now emerging from this unique terroir and of some of the winemakers who are leading this resurgence.
Starting with bubbles at 11am, the seminar will begin at 11:30, followed by a reception at 1:30pm.
The event will be located at Bluxome Street Winery (53 Bluxome St., San Francisco, CA 94107).
Please note that this event is for wine professionals only. Space is limited; you can reserve by sending an email to marnie@winecouncil.org.
