Additional Info

Villedommange and Sacy are the best terroirs in the Petite Montagne and they are largely planted to Pinot Meunier. Jerome Prevost who makes some of the best Meuniers in Champagne is not far in Gueux, and so is Egly-Ouriet’s Vielles Vignes de Vrigny. The Petite Montagne is obviously very serious Meunier territory.

Simply put, a stunning expression of Pinot Meunier. The 2006 is still young and reserved. But with a little age this cuvée always opens up to unleash the sweet, enthusiastic and generous texture of Meunier, yet, because the vines are almost directly on the chalk, it also manages to reel in that golden retriever character, and suffuse it with pretty assertive chalk and salt. The contrast results in the best of both worlds, a wine that displays generosity and brains. It is a show-stopper.
