- Terroir: East-facing, iron-rich soils over white oolitic limestone. The earliest-ripening of the Bergheim terroirs.
- Viticulture: Organic (Ecocert), biodynamic (Demeter). 8,000 vines/ha.
- Vinification: Pressed with whole clusters, ambient yeast fermentation, aged 12 months the on lees in foudres.

Standing erect like a sentinel facing the plains, Rotenberg is the earliest-ripening terroir in Bergheim.
