    • Vine Age: Planted between 1980 and 2008
    • Terroir: From the eastern end of the Bürgstadt Berg, on a steep south-facing slope (40% incline). The subsoil is comprised of friable, degraded layers of iron-rich red rock. The topsoil is shallow and gravelly. It warms easily, is well aerated and has good drainage.
    • Viticulture: Organic (not certified)
    • Vinification: 45-100% whole cluster, 2-week ambient yeast fermentation in open-top wooden tanks, aged for 16-18 months in barrels (45-55% new), no fining, no filtration.

    The vineyard is mostly old vines, supplemented by new, densely-spaced plantings of up to 17,000 vines per hectare.
